Military

“Of all the enemies to public liberty war is, perhaps, the most to be dreaded because it comprises and develops the germ of every other. War is the parent of armies; from these proceed debts and taxes … known instruments for bringing the many under the domination of the few.… No nation could preserve its freedom in the midst of continual warfare.”James Madison, Political Observations, 1795 - ref.1
Today’s developed nations continue to spent a tremendous amount in their military budgets, and they are led by the example of the United States. The USA with its massive spending budget, has long been the principal determinant of the current world trend, often accounting for close to half of all the world’s military expenditure.1 How much is the US planning on spending on its military for next year?

While US society endures tremendous debt problems, a failing education system, and a vast section of the population is in poverty, the country continues to spend the greatest part of its money on military expenditures. Will newer fighter jets or more soldiers really solve security needs? Will more spending on surveillance really create lasting peace and security?

Military Spending

The root cause of human insecurity is not a lack of military or government control over criminals. While every nation should have the right to defend themselves, it is our belief as Guardians that we must strive to create peace and understanding throughout society so that massive military arsenals are not necessary to guarantee security. We need Warriors to show that the true path of warriorship is in creating lasting peace.
